BATS return to The Anvil with Lionel Bart's family favourite 'Oliver!' Based on the novel by Charles Dickens, this timeless musical plots the misfortunes and rags-to-riches story of the young orphan Oliver on the seedy streets of Victorian London.
Oliver's ordeal begins when he dares to ask for more food at the workhouse, but instead of getting more watery gruel Mr. Bumble, the owner of the workhouse, sells him on the cold and snowy streets. Oliver soon finds his way to London and into the company of a band of juvenile pickpockets, under the dishonest guidance of Fagin, but is eventually rescued from a life of crime by the kind and wealthy Mr. Brownlow, who also turns out to be Oliver's grandfather!
The show boasts a 30-strong team of boys from schools in the local area and the ever-popular musical score will undoubtedly get you singing along to 'Food, Glorious Food', 'Consider Yourself', 'Oom-Pah-Pah' or 'I'll Do Anything for You'.
