My Fair Lady
3 - 14 November 2009
Director and choreographer: Ray Jeffery
Musical director: Neil Streeter
The Haymarket, Basingstoke
Evenings: 7:30 pm, Saturday matinees: 3:00 pm
Be enchanted by one of the best-loved musicals of all time - My Fair Lady.
The show’s glorious score boasts the ever-popular songs “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?”, “I Could Have Danced All Night”, “On The Street Where You Live”, “Get Me To The Church On Time”, “The Rain In Spain” and many more!
Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play ‘Pygmalion’, My Fair Lady takes you back to Edwardian London. Professor Henry Higgins accepts a bet that within six months he can transform the coarse Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle into a proper lady and “pass her off as a Duchess at an Embassy ball…”
Superb staging, stellar costumes and Basingstoke’s Amateur Theatrical Society’s strong cast of local performers bring this simply loverly musical comedy to The Haymarket. You’ll be sure to leave humming the many memorable tunes!
