Created by one of musical theatre’s legendary partnerships, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel presents a dramatic storyline and beautiful score that never fails to stir the emotions.
In New England, USA, fairground worker Billy Bigelow meets the innocent Julie Jordan. Their mutual attraction eventually develops into a powerful love, which is tragically cut short as Billy, in a desperate attempt to find money to support their unborn child, is tempted into an ill-fated robbery. Upon entering Heaven, Billy is given a chance to revisit his life and make amends…
From the rousing “Carousel Waltz”, to the emotional “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “If I Loved You”, plus lusty chorus numbers such as “June is Bustin’ out all Over”, the show contains some beautiful melodies that will inspire you, make you laugh and move you to tears.
New director to BATS, Andy Reiss was the resident director for the first national tour of Les Misérables and promises to deliver a powerful interpretation of this classic musical.
